We offer the following vaccines:
FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calici, and
Panleukopenia also known as 3x1) - Vaccine protects against
upper respiratory and gastrointestinal viruses.
Felv (Feline
Leukemia) - Vaccine protects against feline leukemia, which is
a feline immunodeficiency disease.
Rabies - Vaccine protects
against the rabies virus, which attacks the nervous system and
causes a very painful death. Rabies is such an important
disease because of the almost
100% fatality rate of cases
once symptoms occur, and because of its potential transmission to
people by bites from infected animals. Rabies vaccination is an
essential part of the vaccination program for all cats.
Vaccine Recommendations:
|
FVRCP
|
Kittens - Can start vaccines as young as 8 weeks
old, with boosters given 3-4 weeks apart. A one-year
booster should be given one year after the last kitten
vaccine, and then boosters can be given once every three
years.
Unvaccinated Adults- Can start vaccines at any
time, and will require one booster 3-4 weeks after the first
was given. Then a one-year booster given one year after the
last vaccine, then boosters can be given every three
years.
Vaccinated Adults over 2 years old - Once every
three years.
|
|
Felv
|
All cats under two years of age should have a two
vaccine series, given 3-4 weeks apart. It has been shown that
cats under 2 years old are the most susceptible to Felv, and
indoor only kitties can escape! After the first series
boosters are given yearly until age three, then boosters are
given every three years.
|
|
Rabies
|
Kittens and Unvaccinated Adults- One vaccine as
early as 8 weeks old, then once a year
boosters.
|
Vaccinated Adults- Vaccinate
yearly.

Parasite Control
|
Indoor only cats
|
External Parasites - We recommend to check regularly for
fleas with a flea comb, and to treat fleas as needed, or at
the very least, treat for fleas twice a year.
Internal Parasites - Parasites can be brought inside
accidentally on shoes, or could be encysted in muscles from
when your cat was a kitten. Doing preventive de-worming twice
a year is recommended.
|
|
Indoor/Outdoor & Outdoor only cats
|
External and Internal Parasites- Monthly treatments are
best for keeping infestations from getting
started. |
Products we trust for External Parasites, and some Internal
Parasites: Advantage Multi, Revolution, Frontline, Capstar and
Profender. |

Dental Care

Dental Cleaning
|
Cleaning a cat’s teeth is a safe and necessary way to give
your cat a healthy, long life. How often a cat needs to have a
full cleaning under anesthesia varies from cat to cat, and
your cats needs can be evaluated during a yearly exam.
During the exam the doctor will check your cat’s oral health,
and then will make recommendations as to what kitty needs.
Costs can vary by quite a bit depending on what each patient’s
needs are, and we can provide an estimate after an exam. |
What happens during a Dental
Cleaning? First, the patient is placed
under gas anesthesia, as cats are not the most willing to have their
teeth cleaned!
Second, we use an Ultrasonic Scaler that is water cooled to clean
of the surface of the tooth, and around the gum line.
Then, we use a Dental Polisher to polish the teeth. This makes
sure the surface of each tooth is smooth, so that tarter has a
harder time building up.
Next a doctor will do an even more thorough exam of the cat’s
teeth and gums. During this the time the doctor will decide if a bad
tooth is in need of removal, or if other treatments are
necessary.

the ability to perform in-house lab work.
|
Serum Chemistry
|
This group of tests evaluates various functions and the
structural integrity of the liver. |
|
Kidney
|
These tests monitor the function and health of
the kidneys. They are most sensitive for detecting
kidney disease when combines with a
urinalysis.

|
|
These tests assess the function and health of the pancreas
and carbohydrate metabolism. |
|
|
Important in monitoring the electrical, water, balance
and general cellular health of the body.
|
|
|
Checks for the presence of muscle damage, trauma and
inflammation.
|
|
|
These evaluate the function of the thyroid gland.
|
|
Complete Blood Count
|
To test for anemia, infection, inflammation, leukemia and
function of bone marrow.
|
|
|
Assesses the health and function of the kidneys and
